The Story of C++: The World’s Most Consequential Programming Language | The Official Story
“The Story of C++: The World’s Most Consequential Programming Language | The Official Story” was released recently, and it is a must-watch if you are passionate about software engineering, systems programming, or tech history.
I am excited to share that this documentary features video footage from Herb Sutter‘s fantastic presentation at the BeCPP Symposium 2026!
On a personal note, I am honored to see a small fragment of one of my own CppCon sessions included in the final cut. Being a tiny part of telling the story of a language that powers so much of our modern world is surreal.
A huge congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this documentary to life!

Tom Tesch, Koen Samyn, and myself are committed to organizing the symposium again in 2027!
