Back from Miami, Steak and Whiskey

I’m back from my holidays to New York, Seattle and Miami. When I find the time I will be writing some other posts with pictures.

This post however is about a nice restaurant we discovered in Miami. It is called “Gotham Steak” and is located in the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Resort. The first thing that you will notice when you enter the restaurant is the 2 story glass room full of wine bottles (see picture below). Apparently there are over 17.000 bottles and over 500 different kinds of wine in this marvelous “wine cellar”.

While browsing the menu, my eye fell on the foie gras starter. I love foie gras, so I ordered it. It was no mistake. The foie gras was delicious and melts in your mouth.

As main dish, we took the Wagyu Steak. At around $70 per portion, it’s not cheap, but after just one bite, we knew it was worth the money. The steak is so tender and tasteful. I would definitely take it again.

After dinner we went to the bar and saw a very nice collection of whiskeys. I tried the Glenmorangie Signet (see picture below) and this is one of the best whiskeys I ever tried, though at $45 per glass, it’s not the cheapest one.

We enjoyed our dinner at the Gotham Steak so much that we went again a few days later 🙂

Below are a few pictures taken at the Gotham Steak restaurant.

Trip to Mostar – Bosnia And Herzegovina

I went to Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina for work. Mostar is a nice city and I think it would be great in the summer. I was there only for 2 days and after work it was already dark, but I still managed to go to the Old Bridge and take some pictures from the old part of the city.

Trip to Nairobi – Kenya

I had to go to Nairobi in Kenya for a business meeting. It was only for 2 days, but luckily I was free for one day 🙂 During that day I did a mini safari in the Nairobi National Park. This is a national park just 15 minutes from Nairobi center with wild life. I saw a wild giraffe, lots of zebras, ostrich and some other. There are also wild lions, tigers, elephants … but I didn’t see them this time. Some pictures of the safari: Read the rest of this entry »

Trip to Berlin (Germany)

Last week I went to Berlin on a business trip, arrived on Thursday and left on Sunday. I basically only had Saturday to go see the city. So on Saturday I woke up, had breakfast (I was missing some American style breakfast with eggs, bacon …) and prepared to go out. I was expecting it to be a normal, quiet day doing some sightseeing. Nothing could be further from the truth however … Read the rest of this entry »

Trip to Plitvice (Croatia)

I went to the Plitvice National Park in Croatia with some friends. It’s a pretty big park with lots and lots of beautiful waterfalls. You can find more information on their website. At the moment it’s not the high-season, so there were not too many people visiting the park at this time, so we could take some pretty nice pictures of which you can see some below. Weekend To Belgrade

Last weekend I went to Belgrade (Serbia) with some friends. We went by car and the first thing we noticed when driving in Serbia is that almost all streetnames on the streets are written using the cyrillic alphabet, however, all the streetnames on streetmaps are written using the latin alphabet. So, even when you are standing in front of a plate with a streetname on, it’s sometimes difficult to find that streetname on our streetmap 🙄 … But, we found our hotel after driving around in Belgrade for a while 😉

Someone from Belgrade has shown us around a bit and also told us that we should come back in the summer because it’s much nicer then … obviously 😉

I didn’t take a lot of pictures, basically only from the Belgrade Fortress which is pretty nice. Below is a view of the Danub (Donau) taken from the Belgrade Fortress.

When entering the fortress, you can see several tanks on display…

Back from skiing

I’m back from my skiing trip to Zell Am Ziller in Austria. The weather was great. Almost always blue sky and sunny on the skiing slopes since we often went above the clouds. Only one day it was foggy but then we got fresh snow that day, so good after all 😉 The highest we went was around 2500 meters. All in all it was great 🙂

I never skied before so I took some lessons with some friends. The following is a picture taken from the skiing slope where we had our skiing lessons.

The following is a picture of me during our training.

After 4 days of lessons we were able to go down some red ski slopes which was pretty good according to our skiing monitor 😎

Holiday to Brazil

Tomorrow my long overdue holiday will start and I will be going to Brazil for a little less that 4 weeks. 🙂

When I come back at the beginning of October, my batteries will hopefully be recharged to tackle the feedback from our beta testers of Wallpaper Cycler 3.5.

See you all in around 4 weeks …
